- You may request a modification through Santa Clara County Department of Child Support Services by contacting our office directly at (866) 901-3212 or by sending a message to your caseworker via Customer Connect, click Log In, then click Register to obtain a PIN (Note: You will need your participant ID number which can be found on letters received from our office). An application will be sent out to you via standard mail and the completed application must be returned within 20 business days or your request could be rejected. Modification of the child support amount may be approved if the amount would change by 20% or $50. If approved, Child Support Services will initiate modification proceedings which could result in an increase or decrease in the child support amount. Please note that once you have returned the application for review, the process will not be terminated regardless of whether your order will be increased or decreased.
- You may file your own modification pursuant to California Family Code Section 3651. Forms may be obtained from the Self-Help Center and click Simplified modification of support order. If you need assistance in filing your own modification, please contact the Family Law Facilitator.
- If the other party lives in a state other than California, Santa Clara County Child Support Services may have to request that the other state child support service agency conduct a review and request a modification of the court order.
